‘The Blue Mile’ at the Marine Corps Marathon

Each year at the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., supporters of the nonprofit organization wear blue: run to remember take over a section of the course, lining “The Blue Mile” with flags and placards that honor U.S. service members who have been killed in action. The organization was founded to support to the families, friends and colleagues of fallen soldiers. I've photographed several of their events over the years, including the 2016 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C.
